Pharmacist

A Pharmacist dispenses medication and provides education to patients about the medication they are taking and how it should help them. They work side by side with other health care workers to determine dosages, help determine potential side effects. They fill prescripti0ons ordered by Drs. and other healthcare professionals.

         Certified Pharmacy                   Technician

Certified Pharmacy Techs Works in hospitals or clinics under the licensed pharmacist. Help manage the pharmacy, help mix medications, count pills, measure medication. They also check allergies and food drug interactions. Listens to patient health concerns and suggest over the counter medication or refer to  pharmacist. Must have good math skills and communication skills .

Education

While no formal education is required in the state of Oklahoma but completing post secondary program will he when receiving on the job training.

Must receive a permit from the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy

Average Salary

$32,000-$40,000.00

Pharmacy Assistant

Helps with management of the pharmacy, record keeping, maintaining inventory, answer the phone and perform clerical duties. Good organization skills and multitasking.

Pharmacologist

Pharmacology and Toxicology are both concerned with therapeutics adverse drug reactions. Pharmacologist research and test medications and chemicals for the development of new drug therapies to cure or prevent  diseases and potential drug interactions. Areas of focus include chemotherapy, pain management, infectious disease, wound healing, alcohol and more. 

Education- Doctorate in biology.

Average Salary- $140,000.00 per year

Projected 10 year job growth 8% between 2021-2031.
